Why is Cigna Healthcare rebranding to HealthSpring?
According to HCSC, the HealthSpring brand is a trusted name that reflects their role as your partner and provider of Medicare benefits to customers for more than a century. The carrier’s goal is to empower their members to live vibrant and healthy lives, and the HealthSpring name is a reminder of this mission.
HealthSpring may also be a familiar name to some Cigna Medicare members, as Cigna was once known as Cigna HealthSpring.
What happens with pharmacy benefits?
The Cigna Group will continue to provide pharmacy benefit services through Evernorth Health Services for an agreed period post-closing.
When will agents and consumers start seeing the HealthSpring name?
For the 2025 plan year, agents can continue selling and servicing Cigna Healthcare-branded Medicare products. Agents and clients will see the HealthSpring brand on plan materials, ID cards, and member communications following standard regulatory approvals.
Will there be a new broker portal?
Yes. HCSC has indicated that a new broker portal will be introduced for HealthSpring, but details have not yet been released. For the remainder of 2025, continue using the carrier’s current portals and tools.
Do agents need to recontract?
For 2025, there will be no changes and existing contracts remain valid. Updates for 2026 will be communicated closer to AEP.
What about certification and training?
For 2025, certification remains the same under Cigna Healthcare. Agents should be prepared for possible HealthSpring-specific certifications starting with the 2026 plan year.
Will commissions or renewals be affected?
In 2025, commissions and renewals remain as contracted under Cigna Healthcare. Starting in 2026, renewals and commissions will be paid under HealthSpring.
What should I tell clients?
The change is in name only, so benefits, networks, and providers will remain the same. Clients will begin seeing HealthSpring branding in communications later in 2025, preparing them for the 2026 plan year.
Members will receive new HealthSpring-branded ID cards starting with their 2026 coverage.
The transition from Cigna Healthcare Medicare to HealthSpring is part of HCSC’s larger strategy to expand access to Medicare offerings nationwide. Staying informed now ensures you can confidently answer client questions and guide them smoothly through the rebrand.
